Putting on the finishing touches...

Well everyone, this is the week we have been looking forward to for a long time now! Things are very close to being completed, just a few loose ends to tie up. Lord willing, Emily and I will go Thursday afternoon to close on the house and plan on moving in this weekend!!! We are excited and looking forward to taking it easy in our new house.

In almost 25 years of my life, this will be the very first time I have ever moved. As most of you know, the house we currently live in was built by my Mom and Dad when they got married in 1979. When I was 19, they purchased and moved in to a newer house and I decided to stay at the old house and rent from them. I grew up in that house and have alot of memories there, too many to mention. It will be nice ,though, to move into our brand new house that we built through blood, sweat, and tears over the past 4 1/2 months!

I have included a few pics of the progress this week which includes faucets, toilets, mirrors, and appliances. I will try to keep everyone updated on the move in progress this weekend...

Countertops in place, driveway and sidewalks poured!

We are a few steps closer to completion with driveway and sidewalks finished, as well as the installation of the kitchen and bath countertops (plenty of pics for your viewing pleasure). The kitchen countertops are Quartz, and the bath countertops are cultured marble. Today, we expect to see the plumbing completed and I plan to install a few more light fixtures tonight. With the way things are looking now, we SHOULD be able to move-in by our target date, September 1st, which is next weekend.

What a busy week! We are getting close...

WOW! A lot has happened this past week with the house - it has definitely been one of the busiest weeks so far. It is all coming together, slowly but surely. Inside the house, all the floors are complete as of about 1:30am Saturday morning. (pics included) We have also hung a few more of the light fixtures. Cabinets and countertops will be completed tomorrow, if all goes well, and plumbing will tie everything in hopefully Thursday. On the outside, things are really taking shape! Since my last post, rain gutters are up, garage door is hung, and our back patio and sidewalk has been poured with the remainder of the sidewalks and driveways being completed by tomorrow.

If all goes according to plan, the inside should be near completion this weekend, with the exception of a few small details here and there. As for the outside, once the concrete is done, we will just be waiting on the landscaping team, which should start next week.

Home Stretch!

We are in the final weeks of construction of our new house! This weekend, Dad, Chase, and I installed some of the light fixtures throughout the house and should have all of them up this week. As you can see from the pic below, the exterior vinyl trim is complete and looks great!

Here' how this week is looking, IF all goes according to plan. Flooring guys should be there tomorrow or Wednesday to lay carpet and hardwood. they should have that complete by Friday. Garage door will be installed Wednesday and rain gutters sometime this week. If the weather holds up, we should see some prep work for the driveway this week as well.

I am planning and hoping we get to move in September 1st (Labor Day Weekend), which is two weeks from this coming weekend. We will see how the progress goes...

As of yesterday, all of our cabinets in bathrooms, laundry, and kitchen, have been set. We are really happy with the way they turned out. We went with an antique glaze in the kitchen, and a darker cherry in the master and 2nd bath. They will spend the rest of this week making adjustments to the cabinets and then hopefully will install counter tops first of next week.
We are also expecting the vinyl trim to be installed this week, as well as finalizing our HVAC. We also plan to hang light fixtures sometime this week.

A few pictures of the progress

I have included several pics in this post that show our brick and also the tile in kitchen and bathrooms. They should be through with tile by Monday and then begin laying the carpet. It appears our hardwood, however, will be a week or so before it arrives for installation. Cabinets will also be installed Monday and Tuesday and vinyl trim on the outside Monday as well. Tomorrow they will come to install our septic treatment system in the back yard, since we are not on sewer system.
