Brick almost done, flooring has begun.

Not many pics in this post. Just thought I would give everyone a quick update on what is going on with the house. Brick layers are finishing up this week and everything looks really good. They began to lay the tile yesterday in the kitchen. It was a little later than expected, but such is building a house! The cabinets have been delivered and will be installed once they are finished laying the tile. Exterior vinyl trim will hopefully begin before Monday. NALGW (also known as New Albany Lazy Good-for-nothing Workers) came yesterday to bury the electric service from the road to our house. All our services, including cable, phone, and electric will be buried before we move in (they were NOT ALL buried yesterday, but don't get me started on that!).

In case you haven't heard the good news, Emily and I just found out this past week that we are going to be parents! She is due March 22 and we couldn't be more excited! Those extra bedrooms will come in handy ;-). Keep us in your prayers.

I will try to post again this week and let you know how the progress is coming...

It's starting to look like home now!

Sorry for the delay in posting. I know I said I would try to post more often, but I just haven't found much time this past week. The brick is 3/4 of the way complete and is looking really good. They probably still have another week or so before being finished. Also, interior paint is done and looks great! Emily and I are both happy with the colors we chose. The only paint that is lacking is the garage. We expect flooring to begin tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday. Cabinets are not far behind and just be installed within a week or so.

Take a look at our pics and tell us what you think? Since we don't have any lights up yet, they are kind of dark...but you will get the idea.

Paint, Brick Underway - Interior Doors Hung!

As you can see from the pics below, brick and painting is well underway! Most of the trim and doors have been primed and painted, and all the walls have been primed and are ready for paint. Also, out interior doors were hung Friday and they look great! All our trim and doors are a color called Rice Grain from Sherwin Williams, and we have several variations on wall color from room to room. I spoke with my painter and he said he hopes to be completed by this Saturday! Brick should be finished in 1-2 weeks, depending on the weather, of course. We chose Jefferson Manor as our brick color and are very happy with the way it looks on the house!

Emily and I spent Saturday making our final selections on flooring as well as a few other items. We hope to have the flooring crew in sometime next week. It is definitely crunch time! Everybody is waiting on everyone else, Cabinet people are waiting on floors, flooring people are waiting on paint, yadah yadah, yadah. I am hoping that everything will run smoothly for these last few weeks!

I included several pics of the process - both brick and paint.

Trim almost complete, Paint and Brick begin this week!

The brick layers have finally arrived and should get started tomorrow, hopefully. Meantime, the trim is being completed today and tomorrow with paint not far behind, slated to begin sometime this week. I will try to post more often with pictures since we have a lot of things happening at once.
We are trying to make some final decisions on flooring this week. Our plan is to put hardwood in great room, master bedroom, and hallways - carpet in 3 guest bedrooms and closets - and ceramic tile in kitchen, breakfast room, bathrooms, and laundry room. Oh, the decisions...

Enjoy the pics of trim work:

Drywall Finishing Completed, Installing Trim Today!

Things are a dusty mess inside our house today! They completed the drywall 'finishing' yesterday afternoon and dust is everywhere! The construction crew is back today installing all the trim to get things ready for paint, which will hopefully happen first of next week. Emily met with an interior designer Monday to finalize our color selections for the house. We are both really pleased with the colors we have chosen and can't wait to see them on the walls!
Still no brick! I have been watching the house that our brick layers are currently working at, which is not too far from our house, and they are almost done - We are next!

Here are a few pics of the drywall. Please note these were taken yesterday before sanding had taken place.
