Drywall to be completed today!

Just a quick update on drywall - they should be completed by end of the day (if not before). The drywall crew actually got started a little earlier than expected on Monday afternoon, so things have been moving fast.

Here are a few pics of the the drywall. I will post more later...

Drywall begins tomorrow...Insulation complete... Electrical, HVAC roughed in!

I spent most of my weekend tying up loose ends on our electrical for the house. I am proud to say that, for the most part, it is finally roughed in! Insulation crew came Friday and did an outstanding job. They even stayed late (7:30 on a Friday night) to clean up the mess (a rare breed in construction workers).
They begin hanging the drywall tomorrow morning. I figure it will take about 2 days or so with the crew they have. Then they will start finishing (mudding) after that. As I posted before, the brick has been delivered and we could see bricklayers as early as this week.

Below are a few pictures showing the insulation completed.

Roof is complete, HVAC and Electrical are close...PICS INCLUDED!

Roof was completed this morning and looks really good. We went with Owens Corning shingles and chose "Teak" as our color. We are winding down on the electrical and, as I said in previous posts, hope to be done by the weekend. Also, HVAC began yesterday and is close to being completed. I have already got a target move-in date in mind, we will see if we reach it or not...
I have included plenty of pics of the progress in this post, Enjoy.

Roofing, Electrical, Insulation, Brick.....It's Getting Hectic Here!

Sorry, this post will not have any pics, just to let you know up front, so those of you who come here just for the pics can leave now...:-)! I forgot to take pics this morning, but I will do my best to get some up this afternoon or tomorrow.
Things are getting hectic around the house. We have been at the house every night until dusk for the past 10 days or so getting the electrical "roughed in". I think we will be finished with that this weekend, hopefully. As I left the house this morning, the roofers were a little over half way done with the roof and hopefully will complete the job by tomorrow morning. Insulation should be ready as early as this Friday. We are having sprayed-in 'Cellulose' insulation on all the exterior walls, and 'blown-in' insulation in the attic. We have heard a lot of positive things on the cellulose insulation, so we decided to go that route. We could possibly see some drywall as soon as Monday or Tuesday of next week...no promises. Brick was delivered Saturday and my contractor told me this morning that the brick layers could possibly start next week! That is some good news!

Just thought I would give you all a quick update. I will try to post pics real soon!

Prep work for electric has begun

For the last few nights, after leaving the office, I have been going straight to the house to work on "roughing in" for our electric. Yes, I know that is a scary thought, ME and ELECTRICITY! I decided to do the electrical work myself (to save a little $$$) with a lot of much needed help from my Dad, who owns an electrical controls business and has done this type of thing PLENTY of times before. THANKS FOR THE HELP DAD! We have been making some good progress this week (pics below) and hope to have everything roughed in a few days...maybe.

Other developments:
  • *We are waiting on the roofer, who happens to be my father-in-law :-), and hope to have the shingles on by middle of next week....maybe.
  • *Plumbers have returned to do some more work, including installation of the tub/shower in 2nd bathroom.
  • *HVAC will be coming any day now to install Heating and Air system.
There you have it, folks, a quick update from what's happening at the future home of the Coopers. Check out the pics below!

Close to Being 'In the Dry'

We have come a long way in the last week. The roof decking is on, windows are in, and we are about to 'rough in' the electric. Things are moving rapidly, and now is the time where we have make a lot of decisions. I was overwhelmed when I walked in yesterday, it is starting to look like a house. The next week or two will consist of electric, HVAC, plumbing installation, and roofing. The lot is a mess right now (its the OCD in me). We are going to take this Saturday to clean up around the house, so if anyone wants to come by, I got a glove with your name on it! We are well on our way to moving in our first home!
